Measuring Normal Pressures and Shear Stresses, Locally and in tandem 

Using the Null Soil Pressure Measurement technique together with the Friction-meter creates the unique opportunity to define through direct measurement the angle of interface friction.  See the physical template below and how the measurements may be integrated together.

Once we have normal pressure (stress) and the resultant shear stress on the boundary we can create a stress path.  In this case the inner side (aluminum plate) of a 1 g physical model.  The outcome, an angle of interface friction of 25o.
